Madex Twin is an insecticidal virus for the combined control of oriental fruit moth (OFM) and codling moth (CM) in stone and pome fruit. It kills the larvae by ingestion and has an additional long-term effect on pest population reduction.
- The active substance of Madex Twin is a naturally occurring codling moth virus selected for its ability to infect and kill larvae of both key pests in pome fruit, stone fruits and walnut.
- Applied regularly, it maintains an effective long-term control of both pests.
Oriental fruit moth (Grapholita molesta) is a serious pest of economic importance to commerical ochards of peaches, nectarines and apricots. It frequently migrates to pome fruit ochards in the late season, where it can cause substantial fruit damage before harvest. Recent studies confirmed that OFM is also able to complete its entire life cycle on alternative hosts such as apple, cherry, plum, and quinces. First and second generation larvae bore into tips of fruit trees causing dieback, distortion and wilting of shoots. In response to the hardening shoots, fruit feeding increases dramatically in subsequent generations
